What’s on April 2020 - inside edition

Posted in All - Posted 4 years ago

Many events and places to visit have been cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19; so for others and our own safety it’s time to get creative and think of things to do inside the house - wet-weather style. Here’s a list of creative activities to keep the whole family entertained.

Play games

Dust off those board games and strike up that competitive nature; family games aren’t just for Christmas anymore. If the whole family isn’t together, you can still play via skype/facetime. Click here for 15 fun and cheap family game night ideas.

Get baking

Get creative in the kitchen and start baking! You could even host your own family ‘bake-off’ where everyone is tasked with making a different baked good every week – why not have the kids be the judges! Get every single family member involved by creating a ‘bake-off’ WhatsApp/Facebook messaging group where everyone can share photos of their latest baked goods.

Unleash your inner artist

You could be the next Picasso and not even know it! Drawing/painting is a great way to relax and reduce stress. Colouring in is not just for kids; grab those pencils and crayons and get creative! Such a simple activity, but a real mood booster.

Movie/TV marathon

Have you watched all the Star Wars films or the whole series of The Crown yet? Well, now is the perfect time to catch up on your favourite movies/TV series. Netflix have a free 30-day trial period – how many shows could you get through in that time?

Home/garden renovations

Spring has finally sprung and with all this time at home, why not redecorate or finally get around to tidying up the garden? Being out in the garden is a great way to get some fresh air and physical exercise too without having to leave your property.

Have a clear out

Tackle that overflowing wardrobe or downstairs cupboard that has become the dumping ground for all those random objects you’ve collected over time. Decluttering makes for a tidy house and a tidy mind!

Learn a new language

Bonjour, hola, guten tag, god dag… use this time to gain a new skill and become fluent in a new language. There are some great language learning apps that you can download, including Duolingo and Babbel.

Create your own home gym

You don’t need a fancy treadmill or the latest weightlifting machines to get a good workout! There are plenty of home workout routines that don’t require any equipment at all. Click here for 7 exercise routines you can do around the house to keep fit.

Hopefully in the months to come and by the time the weather has improved social guidelines won’t have to be so strict and we might be able to enjoy some of North Norfolk’s fine outdoor attractions. However, until such time we must keep ourselves and all around us safe and stay indoors.
